In the 2026 Telangana Municipal Elections, Kalvakuntla Kavitha demonstrated her political strength by securing a major win in her first step since distancing herself from the BRS. Maintaining an independent path, her supporters successfully captured the Waddepally Municipality in the Jogulamba Gadwal district. Analysts view this victory as a strong foundation for her political future, especially amid widespread speculation that she will soon launch her own political party.
Out of the 10 total wards in Waddepally Municipality, Kavitha’s supporters achieved a landslide victory by winning 8 wards. Notably, they contested under the All India Forward Block (AIFB) party using the ‘Lion’ symbol. While the ruling Congress party has shown dominance across the state, it was limited to just one ward here, and the BRS also managed to win only one seat. The winners attributed their success to Kavitha’s grassroots popularity and the social service programs conducted through the Telangana Jagruthi organization.
Election Context: While the Congress is leading in the majority of the 116 municipalities (winning about 90+), the unified victory of Kavitha’s group in Waddepally stands out as a unique outcome amidst the fierce competition between major parties.
In celebration of this victory, Kavitha’s supporters in Waddepally held grand festivities, including bursting firecrackers and distributing sweets. This win is being hailed as a “stepping stone” for her new political force in the state.
