The annual Brahmotsavams at the Jubilee Hills Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Hyderabad commenced with grand religious fervor on Tuesday. The festival was officially inaugurated with the traditional Dhvajarohanam (flag hoisting) ceremony, conducted between 10:30 AM and 11:00 AM amid Vedic chants and the rhythmic sounds of Mangala Vaidyams. During this ritual, a flag featuring the image of Lord Garuda was hoisted on the temple’s flagstaff (Dhvajastambham), symbolizing an invitation to the deities and celestial beings to witness and bless the ten-day festival.
Throughout the celebrations, which will continue until February 26, the temple will host daily Vahana Sevas (processions on various vehicles). These processions are scheduled twice a day—from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM and 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Key highlights include the Garuda Vahana Seva on the evening of February 21, the Rathotsavam (chariot festival) on the morning of February 24, and the Chakrasnanam ritual on February 25. Each vehicle service represents a different aspect of the Lord’s glory, attracting thousands of devotees who gather to catch a glimpse of the deity in various divine avatars.
To enrich the spiritual atmosphere, the TTD Hindu Dharma Prachara Parishad has organized cultural programs, including Kolatam and Bhajan performances in front of the processions. Artists from the Annamacharya Project will also perform Keerthanas throughout the event. The festivities will conclude on February 26 with the Pushpayagam ceremony at 3:00 PM. Local authorities and TTD officials have made extensive arrangements to ensure a smooth experience for the visiting pilgrims, providing necessary amenities and managing the expected crowds during this sacred period.
