BRS Working President K. T. Rama Rao (KTR) has vehemently condemned the arrest of former MLA Balka Suman, describing it as an illegal act and a cowardly move by the Revanth Reddy-led Congress government. KTR alleged that Suman, a prominent Dalit leader, was arrested without any prior notice and treated like a bandit simply for questioning the “anarchic” interference of Minister Vivek Venkataswamy in the Kyathanpalli municipal chairperson election. He demanded Suman’s immediate and unconditional release, asserting that such arrests are a strategic attempt to suppress the voices of the weaker sections of society.
KTR further criticized the state police, accusing them of functioning as a “private army” for the Congress party rather than upholding law and order. He claimed that despite the public giving a clear mandate to the BRS in Kyathanpalli, the ruling party is resorting to kidnapping candidates and filing false cases against those who resist. KTR issued a stern warning to the police officers involved in these actions, stating that they are working at the behest of their political masters and will have to face the consequences and “pay back with interest” when the political tide turns.
Drawing attention to similar incidents in Thorrur, Jangaon, and Zaheerabad, KTR accused the Congress of practicing “encroachment politics” by purchasing elected councilors like cattle. He highlighted a specific incident in Jangaon where a Dalit woman representative was allegedly attacked in the presence of officials. Calling for the intervention of the State Election Commission and the Governor, KTR demanded a comprehensive inquiry into the irregularities of the municipal elections. He concluded by stating that the BRS would not be intimidated by illegal detentions and that the “demonic rule” of the Congress would soon come to an end.
