K. Kavitha confirmed on February 19, 2026, that she will officially float her new political party in the first week of May, after selecting an auspicious mahuratam. The party’s name will prominently feature “Telangana,” reflecting her commitment to the state’s regional identity. Aiming to emerge as the primary alternative to the ruling Congress party, Kavitha has also set her sights on contesting the next Assembly elections from Siddipet, a stronghold currently represented by her cousin, T. Harish Rao, or Bodhan. By choosing Siddipet, she is directly challenging the established BRS leadership on their home turf.
The rift within the BRS became public after Kavitha was suspended for “anti-party activities” following her sharp criticism of her cousins, T. Harish Rao and J. Santosh Rao. She accused them of amassing wealth and creating a “scam-tainted” image of the KCR-led government, specifically citing irregularities in the Kaleshwaram project. Kavitha maintains that her brother, K.T. Rama Rao (KTR), is surrounded by those who betrayed the Telangana movement, further justifying her need to create an independent “democratic front.”
Beyond electoral politics, Kavitha is positioning her new platform as a champion for workers’ rights. She has demanded the immediate merger of the Road Transport Corporation (RTC) with the government, supporting the “Chalo Secretariat” protest planned for February 24. She criticizes both the current Congress government and the previous BRS regime for failing to fulfill promises to women and transport workers, alleging that the shift from “Erravelli (KCR’s farmhouse) to Delhi” has not changed the fundamental lack of accountability in the state’s governance.
