The Andhra Pradesh Meteorological Department has issued a high alert for the state, predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall over the next two days. Due to a low-pressure area formed in the Bay of Bengal and the resulting trough, several districts are expected to experience intense downpours accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning. Officials noted that the traditional seasonal patterns have shifted, with unseasonal rains now significantly impacting the summer months.
The weather department has specifically identified districts including East Godavari, West Godavari, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, Srikakulam, Konaseema, Eluru, Krishna, Guntur, and Bapatla as high-risk zones. Residents in these areas are urged to remain vigilant as the combination of heavy winds and lightning poses a serious threat. Farmers and cattle herders have been strongly advised to avoid working in open fields or taking shelter under trees during the rain.
In light of these unseasonal rains, authorities have released several safety guidelines to minimize loss and health risks. Farmers are encouraged to protect their harvested produce with tarpaulin covers to prevent damage. Furthermore, officials warned of a potential rise in mosquito-borne diseases and other health issues due to stagnant rainwater, advising the public to take necessary medical precautions. People are urged to stay in safe, permanent structures until the weather stabilizes.
