In a shocking incident that has sparked intense debate in Hyderabad, two Sub-Inspectors (SIs) were caught red-handed by Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials while accepting a bribe within the premises of the LB Nagar Cyber Crime Police Station. The accused officers, identified as RSIs Pramod Kumar Goud and Babu Nayak, were reportedly caught while taking ₹1 lakh from a suspect involved in a cybercrime case. The very personnel tasked with enforcing the law and protecting citizens were found exploiting their positions for illegal personal gain.
The case dates back to a complaint filed by a victim regarding a financial loss in a cybercrime. During the investigation, the two SIs allegedly demanded the bribe from a suspect to provide undue favors. Specifically, they demanded the money to prevent the freezing of the suspect’s bank account and to avoid issuing a formal notice under Section 41A of the CrPC. Unable to bear the harassment and persistent pressure from the officers, the individual approached the ACB and filed a formal complaint.
Following the tip-off, an ACB team led by Hyderabad Range-2 DSP Gangasani Sridhar executed a strategic trap at the police station. The two SIs were caught in the act of receiving the cash. ACB officials immediately seized the bribe money and took both officers into custody. They are currently being produced before the Special Court for ACB Cases in Nampally. Following the raid, the ACB issued a public appeal, urging citizens to report any government official demanding a bribe by calling the 1064 toll-free number.
