Monalisa Bhosle, who became an overnight social media sensation as the “Kumbh Mela Viral Girl,” is making headlines again, but this time for her real-life romantic struggle. Monalisa has approached the Thampanoor Police Station in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, along with her partner, Farman Khan, seeking protection. She alleged that her father, Vijay Singh Bhosle, has been opposed to their relationship and is pressuring her into a forced marriage with a man of his choice, leading to concerns for her safety.
The conflict primarily stems from religious differences, as Monalisa and Farman belong to different faiths. Her father had previously filed a complaint claiming his daughter was being taken away against her will. However, Monalisa clarified to the authorities that she has been in a relationship with Farman for over a year and a half and wishes to marry him. The couple’s presence at the police station in Kerala quickly drew significant public and media attention.
The Kerala police intervened by summoning Monalisa’s father for counseling. Since Monalisa is over 18 years old, officials confirmed that, according to Indian law, she is a major and has the legal right to choose her life partner and where she lives. The police have assured the couple of their safety and upheld Monalisa’s freedom to make her own life decisions. The story of the simple girl from the Kumbh Mela standing up for her love has now gone viral across social platforms.
