Elderly Man Harassed by Sons After Property Transfer: Police Register Case in Siddipet

In a distressing incident from Gangapur village, Chinnakodur police have registered a case against two sons for allegedly harassing and neglecting their 94-year-old father, Kondi Narayana Reddy. Despite the elderly man having legally transferred his seven acres of land equally to his sons, Raji Reddy and Parameshwar Reddy, they reportedly failed to provide him and his wife with basic necessities or food. According to the complaint, the sons confined the elderly couple to a dilapidated house and resorted to verbal abuse and death threats whenever questioned about their neglect.

The plight of the elderly man came to light when Siddipet Rural CI Srinu and Chinnakodur SI Chandramohan took a humanitarian approach to the situation. Recognizing that Narayana Reddy was physically unable to travel to the police station due to his advanced age and frail health, the officers personally visited his residence to record his statement. The victim expressed deep grief, stating that he had entrusted his property to his children with the hope of being cared for in his final years, only to be met with cruelty instead.

Following the site visit and the victim’s formal statement, the police officially booked both sons for their actions. CI Srinu emphasized that harassing helpless elderly parents is a serious legal offense under the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act. He assured that stringent legal action would be taken against the accused to ensure justice for the elderly couple. This case has sparked local discussion regarding the growing necessity of legal protections for senior citizens against domestic neglect.
