The sighting of the crescent moon on Friday evening has set the stage for Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations across India on Saturday, March 21, 2026. This sighting marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, a period of rigorous fasting and spiritual reflection. Following the confirmation of the moon, the Telangana government has declared a public holiday for Saturday, providing a two-day weekend break for citizens as Sunday remains a general holiday.
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy extended his heartfelt greetings to the Muslim community on this joyous occasion. He highlighted that the festival of Ramzan is a profound symbol of secularism and religious harmony. The Chief Minister remarked that the discipline, devotion, and prayers observed during the fasting month serve as an inspiration to all of humanity, reflecting the core values of the holy Quran.
Emphasizing the state’s cultural heritage, the Chief Minister noted that Telangana stands as a testament to the ‘Ganga-Jamuna Tehzeeb’ (a culture of peace and communal harmony). He reaffirmed his government’s commitment to the development and welfare of minority communities. CM Revanth Reddy concluded his message by wishing that this festival, which delivers a message of peace to the world, brings happiness and prosperity to every household.
