In a major development regarding national security and internal state administration, West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has issued a fierce warning to illegal Bangladeshi immigrants residing in the state. Directing law enforcement authorities to intensify their crackdowns on illegal infiltrators, the Chief Minister stated, “If there are any Bangladeshi infiltrators, flee from here immediately. We have absolutely no interest in putting you in prisons and feeding you using our hard-earned public tax money. Why should our state’s resources be wasted?”
Fulfilling a core electoral promise, the Suvendu Adhikari administration is now actively executing a comprehensive, high-level action plan to weed out illegal immigration across the state. The state government has formally decided to set up specialized detention facilities across various districts to isolate and hold identified illegal immigrants. Clear executive orders have been passed to state officials to rigorously identify illegal Rohingya immigrants alongside illegal Bangladeshi nationals. To ensure rapid implementation, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) has issued written directives to all District Collectors, instructing local administrations to immediately locate suitable land parcels for setting up these detention centers.
Following the Chief Minister’s direct ultimatum, movement has already been reported in West Bengal’s highly sensitive border districts, such as North 24 Parganas and Malda. Official field reports suggest that several illegal immigrants have started moving toward the international border in an attempt to voluntarily return to their home country. The state government is putting everything in place to establish legal identities, complete judicial formalities, and systematically deport captured infiltrators back to Bangladesh, triggering a massive national debate on immigration enforcement.
