KTR Accuses Congress Government of Jailing Balka Suman to Hide Singareni Scams

Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) has launched a fierce attack on the ruling Congress government in Telangana, alleging that former MLA Balka Suman was arrested on entirely fabricated charges. Following a meeting with Suman at Chanchalguda Jail—where the leader is being held for allegedly inciting an attack on public sector property—KTR stated that the arrest is a deliberate political ploy. According to KTR, the government is using the imprisonment to deflect public scrutiny away from administrative failures and multi-crore coal scandals unfolding within the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL).

KTR asserted that the BRS has consistently exposed corruption under the current administration, citing a purported ₹15,000 crore scam involving “Site Visitation Certificates” and alleged discrepancies in solar power tenders. He argued that Balka Suman’s arrest under the Prevention of Damage to Public Property (PDPP) Act was triggered simply because he stood in solidarity with Singareni workers during a union meeting. The BRS leader added that Suman’s statements were intentionally distorted by authorities to build a legal case and suppress political dissent regarding public resource exploitation.

The opposition leader also highlighted growing labor unrest, criticizing the Congress government for freezing compassionate appointments through the Medical Invalidity Board, which had previously secured thousands of jobs for workers’ families under BRS rule. He expressed strong disapproval of the government’s decision to launch a vigilance inquiry into past appointments, stating it has created deep anxiety among the workforce. Emphasizing that the BRS would not be intimidated by legal actions or jail time, KTR vowed that the party would continue to aggressively protest until the alleged irregularities within Singareni are fully brought to light.
