A major fire broke out on Thursday afternoon in Hyderabad’s highly congested Ameerpet area, causing widespread panic and massive traffic gridlocks. The blaze erupted at the KSR Shopping Complex, located near the prominent Maitrivanam junction. According to preliminary reports, the fire initially started inside a toy shop and rapidly spread across the commercial complex due to the heavy presence of highly flammable plastic goods. The surrounding area houses numerous corporate offices, educational institutions, coaching centers, and commercial hubs.
The intensity of the fire caused thick, black smoke to blanket the entire locality, reducing visibility on the busy thoroughfare to near zero and completely paralyzing vehicular movement. Upon receiving the emergency alert, fire department personnel rushed to the scene with four fire tenders to combat the spreading flames. Simultaneously, local police and traffic personnel deployed barricades and initiated traffic diversions to clear the congested lanes for emergency vehicles.
Fortunately, occupants and shoppers inside the commercial complex managed to rush out immediately after noticing the sparks, preventing any casualties. While the police confirmed that there was no loss of life, multiple shops were completely gutted, pointing to significant property damage. Authorities suspect a short circuit to be the primary cause of the accident. Meanwhile, Hyderabad Metro Rail officials assured commuters that operations at the nearby Ameerpet metro station remained entirely unaffected and services continued to run on schedule.
