Major Drug Bust in Hyderabad: ‘Eagle’ Squad Cracks Goa Network with Suspected Tollywood Links

The Telangana ‘Eagle’ (Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement) squads have dismantled a massive drug trafficking network operating out of Goa and supplying narcotics to Hyderabad. Acting on a tip-off received through their WhatsApp helpline, law enforcement officials discovered that the network was being run by Kommaraju Chakrapani (alias Chakri) and his associate Harshit Reddy from a hostel near Vagator Beach in Goa. The duo procured high-end narcotics like Cocaine, MDMA pills, and LSD from Bengaluru, as well as hash oil from Odisha, to smuggle into Hyderabad. The operation has sparked a massive stir following allegations that Cocaine was being supplied to individuals within the Telugu film industry (Tollywood).

Following a meticulous analysis of digital footprints and phone records, authorities identified 44 drug consumers scattered across the Hyderabad, Cyberabad, Rachakonda, and Future City commissionerates, alongside Mahabubnagar and Nizamabad districts. On June 15, fifteen specialized police teams launched simultaneous raids, apprehending 19 consumers. Drug tests confirmed that 14 of the detained individuals tested positive for Marijuana (THC), while another tested positive for both Marijuana and Methamphetamine. The arrested consumers confessed to purchasing the contraband from the main suppliers, and digital transaction records revealed recent transfers amounting to ₹3.12 lakh into the suspects’ bank accounts.

The apprehended individuals are undergoing counseling sessions in the presence of their parents before being shifted to de-addiction centers. Meanwhile, a massive manhunt has been launched to capture the primary accused, Chakrapani and Harshit Reddy, who are currently on the run and already face cases under the NDPS Act dating back to 2019. Senior officials stated that an extensive investigation is underway to uncover the wider interstate ramifications of this syndicate and to conclusively trace its alleged connections to prominent figures in Tollywood.
