Report Urges Japan and Allies to Counter China’s Pressure Campaign

A report published in the European Times has urged Japan and its allies to take coordinated action against what it describes as China’s growing pressure campaign involving espionage, maritime activities, cyber intrusions, and economic coercion. The report argues that Beijing is testing Japan’s resilience and the strength of its alliance with the United States while targeting strategic sectors such as semiconductors and robotics through intelligence operations and technology theft.

The report also highlights repeated incursions by Chinese coast guard and fishing vessels near the disputed Senkaku Islands, describing them as attempts to challenge Japan’s sovereignty. It recommends that Japan strengthen maritime patrols, enhance surveillance capabilities, and conduct more joint military exercises with allied nations to reinforce its territorial claims and deter further provocations.

Calling for a coordinated international response, the report says China’s actions should be treated as a collective security challenge requiring diplomatic, economic, and military cooperation among Japan, the United States, and other partners. It argues that defending Japan is essential to preserving the rules-based international order and maintaining stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
