Heavy Rain Alert for Andhra Pradesh as Low-Pressure System Intensifies

The Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) has issued a heavy rainfall alert for several parts of the state, bringing relief to farmers who have been waiting for adequate monsoon showers. While some regions have been experiencing rain, others continue to face intense heat, creating unusual weather conditions across the state.

According to APSDMA, a low-pressure area has formed over the Bay of Bengal and is currently active over West Bengal, Jharkhand, and northern Odisha. Its influence is expected to affect Andhra Pradesh, leading to widespread rainfall and strong winds in several districts over the next 24 hours.

The weather department has warned that coastal Andhra may experience gusty winds of 40–50 kmph, while the sea is likely to remain rough. Fishermen have been advised to exercise caution and avoid venturing into the sea during this period. Authorities also forecast heavy rainfall in districts including Vizianagaram, Parvathipuram Manyam and nearby regions on Saturday.
