Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) is facing growing concerns over the declining number of permanent employees. As many as 37 employees are set to retire on Friday, July 31, further intensifying the staff shortage in several key departments. With vacancies in permanent posts yet to be filled on a large scale, several TTD departments are increasingly relying on outsourced staff, putting additional pressure on the administrative system.
The shortage is particularly severe in the appraiser department, which plays a crucial role in assessing and verifying the value of gold and silver ornaments. As many as 11 appraisers are retiring at the same time, raising concerns over the smooth functioning of the department. To avoid disruption, TTD has decided to temporarily continue the services of one appraiser who is retiring today.
Appraisers play a vital role in the inspection, valuation and security of gold and silver ornaments across the 63 temples under TTD. Employee associations have urged the TTD administration to focus on filling vacant permanent posts at the earliest and strengthen key departments with experienced personnel. Timely recruitment, they believe, is essential to ensure that administrative and temple-related services continue without disruption.
