Kollywood’s versatile actor Suriya recently made a strong comeback with ‘Karuppu’. Directed by RJ Balaji, the film reportedly collected over Rs 350 crore in its final run. Riding high on the success, Suriya is gearing up for the release of ‘Vishwanath & Sons’, directed by Venky Atluri, in August. While the film’s post-production work is progressing at a fast pace, Suriya has already shifted his focus to his upcoming projects, including his next collaboration with ‘Jai Bhim’ fame director T.J. Gnanavel.
The much-awaited project, being made on a grand budget as Suriya’s 48th film, is currently being shot at a brisk pace in and around Egmore in Chennai. Key sequences featuring Suriya and actress Kayadu Lohar are being filmed in the ongoing schedule. The film is reportedly inspired by several real-life incidents, with Suriya set to portray a doctor. The makers are said to be aiming for a realistic and emotionally impactful narrative.
Hombale Films, the production house behind blockbusters such as ‘KGF’ and ‘Kantara’, is backing this ambitious project. Young music sensation Sai Abhyankkar is composing the music. With Suriya and Gnanavel teaming up again after the national-level success of ‘Jai Bhim’, expectations are already sky-high among fans and film circles. The combination of a socially relevant storyline, a strong performer like Suriya and an acclaimed director has made Suriya 48 one of the most anticipated projects in Tamil cinema.
