Cyberabad Police have rescued two children kidnapped from a labour camp in Kondapur, Hyderabad.
Police said they successfully detected the kidnapping case within four hours of receiving the complaint and safely rescued two children aged below 4 years.
Ch. Srinivas, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Serilingampally Zone, said a complaint was received at Gachibowli Police Station at 2 a.m. on Tuesday (August 25) from Devid Murmu, a resident of Labour Camp, Kondapur. The complainant stated that his daughter, Pramila Murmu, and another labourer’s daughter, Sangeeta Hemaram, were playing in the labour camp on the evening of Monday.
The complainant noticed that one Chaku Soren, who was residing in the same labour camp, allegedly took both the children from the camp and fled from the location. Based on the complaint, a case was registered, and immediate efforts were initiated to trace and rescue the children.
The DCP said special teams were immediately formed and information regarding the accused and the missing children was circulated to various police stations and railway authorities.
One police team was deployed to check railway stations and other possible transit points. Alerts were sent to Railway Police Station, L & O Police Stations to check trains going towards Kolkata.
The technical investigation and search efforts led the police team to trace the location of the accused near Ghatkesar Railway Station early Tuesday morning. Gachibowli Police immediately alerted the railway authorities and Ghatkesar Police and, through coordinated efforts, successfully apprehended the accused along with both kidnapped children.
Both children were safely rescued and brought to Gachibowli Police Station for further necessary action and were subsequently handed over to their parents/guardians as per procedure.
The entire case was successfully detected, and both children were rescued within a span of only four hours, demonstrating the prompt response, effective coordination, and dedicated efforts of the Gachibowli Police and SOT, Serilingampally Zone, the DCP said.
Chaku Soren, 45 years, is a native of West Bengal. On being questioned, the accused disclosed that he had been involved in two criminal cases registered at Karandighi Police Station, West Bengal, one relating to an attempt to murder and the other to rape. He further disclosed that he had undergone five years of imprisonment at Islampur Jail, West Bengal.
The accused also disclosed his involvement in kidnapping children and selling them to needy individuals for monetary gain, with the victims allegedly being used for begging. His disclosures are being verified, and he is being thoroughly interrogated regarding his involvement in the said offences and any other criminal activities. His antecedents are also being verified to ascertain his involvement in any previous criminal cases.
In view of the large number of labour camps and ongoing construction projects within the limits of Gachibowli Police Station, all builders, contractors, labour camp managements, security agencies and security personnel have been advised to take precautionary measures to ensure the safety and security of children and residents.
