Reheated Tea: Is Drinking Tea After Hours Really Safe?

Many people prepare extra tea in the morning and reheat it a few hours later instead of wasting it. However, experts caution that drinking tea that has been stored for a long time and reheated may not be the healthiest choice, especially when the tea contains milk or sugar.

Repeatedly reheating tea can affect its taste and aroma and may reduce some of its beneficial antioxidant compounds. It can also make the tea more bitter and acidic, potentially causing issues such as acidity, indigestion or stomach discomfort in some people.

Therefore, it is better to prepare only the amount of tea you need and consume it fresh. If tea has been sitting at room temperature for several hours, particularly milk tea, it is safer to avoid reheating and drinking it. Freshly prepared tea is generally the better option.
