A Special Investigation Team (SIT) remand report in the sensational custodial death case of Gade Sai Krishna has brought to light disturbing details of alleged police brutality and a calculated cover-up. The report clearly states that Sai Krishna died due to severe beatings and torture inflicted by police personnel.
According to the SIT findings submitted in the remand report of accused A-4 Suresh, police from Vijayawada’s Krishna Lanka station took Sai Krishna for interrogation on May 7. He was later shifted to a dilapidated building in the Ranigarithota area, where he was subjected to intense physical assault. Severely injured and denied proper medical treatment, Sai Krishna succumbed to his injuries on May 12.
The SIT report further alleges that police meticulously planned to conceal the crime. After his death, the body was transported on a motorcycle in the middle of the night to Swargapuri crematorium and secretly cremated without the knowledge of family members or authorities. Key roles in this operation were played by the main accused, Sub-Inspector (SI) Nagaraju, and other constables. Investigators also found that the accused deleted photographs related to the assault from their mobile phones in an attempt to destroy evidence.
Family members who filed a habeas corpus petition in the High Court seeking Sai Krishna’s whereabouts were allegedly threatened by police to withdraw the petition. Attempts were also made to lure them into diluting the case.
Suresh (A-4), who played a crucial role in transporting and cremating the body and is described as a close associate of the main accused, surrendered before the SIT on Thursday. He was produced in court on Friday, where the court remanded him till September 24. He was later shifted to Nuzividu sub-jail under heavy security.
As part of the probe, SIT officials have already seized Sai Krishna’s bones, the motorcycle used to transport the body, and relevant CCTV footage. The team is currently questioning Suresh to extract further critical details. With clear evidence emerging against the police personnel involved, the ongoing investigation has intensified public and legal scrutiny.
