Former Chief Minister and YSR Congress Party President Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy criticized the Telugu Desam Party’s (TDP) annual Mahanadu convention, describing it as a grand drama. He alleged that TDP leader N. Chandrababu Naidu was merely posing for photographs and mocked the party by referring to it as the “Telugu Drama Party.” Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy claimed that the public was questioning the fate of the so-called “Super Six” welfare schemes and challenged whether any TDP leader could confidently claim credit for delivering services to households across the state.
Addressing a meeting with local body representatives at the YSR Congress Party’s central office in Tadepalli on Wednesday, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy stated that organizing Mahanadu in Kadapa was not a sign of heroism, nor was hurling criticism at him. “Heroism lies in fulfilling promises made to the people,” he said, alleging that Chandrababu Naidu had failed to honor his commitments.
He criticized the abandonment of the “Super Six” and “Super Seven” schemes, asserting that 143 election promises had been completely sidelined. He said that women were still waiting for the promised free bus travel, and accused the government of failing to distribute cooking gas cylinders effectively.
Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed concern over the state of public education, alleging that government schools had deteriorated and that initiatives such as CBSE curriculum, TOEFL training, Nadu-Nedu infrastructure program, and the distribution of student tablets had all been stalled.
He further stated that during his government’s tenure, fee reimbursement was provided every quarter, whereas the current NDA-led administration had failed to properly implement both fee reimbursement and the Vasathi Deevena hostel welfare scheme. As a result, he said, families were being forced to send their children to work instead of school. He also alleged that the Amma Vodi scheme had been discontinued and that the Aarogyasri public health insurance program had been rendered ineffective, leaving patients without proper healthcare coverage.
Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy also criticized the government’s agricultural policies, claiming that farmers were not receiving minimum support prices and had fallen prey to middlemen. He highlighted that under his administration, ₹2.73 lakh crore had been directly transferred through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer), and questioned why Chandrababu Naidu’s administration was unable to replicate this.
