The coalition government in Andhra Pradesh is currently disbursing social security pensions under the NTR Bharosa scheme to the elderly and persons with disabilities. As part of this ongoing initiative, the government has now approved new pensions under the spouse category.
Under the NTR Bharosa pension scheme, 71,380 individuals have been newly sanctioned pensions under the spouse category. This provision was introduced by the government to ensure that if a pension recipient passes away, their spouse begins receiving the pension from the following month. This policy has been in effect since November 1, 2023.
Applications were accepted from individuals eligible for pensions under the spouse category for the period from December 1, 2023, to October 31, 2024. Following a review of these applications, 71,380 individuals were deemed eligible.
Each of these newly sanctioned beneficiaries will receive a monthly pension of ₹4,000. In recognition of the coalition government completing one year in office by June 12, a decision has been made to begin distributing these pensions across the state on that day.
Eligible women are required to approach village or ward secretariat staff with relevant documents, including their husband’s death certificate and their own Aadhaar card. If these documents are submitted by the end of the month, the pension amount will be disbursed starting from the following month.
