Key Decision on Fee Reimbursement in Telangana.

A significant decision regarding fee reimbursement for degree students was taken during a meeting of university Vice-Chancellors in Telangana. It was resolved that students must maintain a minimum attendance of 75 percent in degree courses to be eligible for fee reimbursement.

The meeting was held on Thursday at the office of the Telangana State Council of Higher Education, under the chairmanship of Chairman Balakishtha Reddy. Vice-Chancellors from seven conventional universities participated in the discussions. During the meeting, officials noted that although the state government had previously issued orders stipulating 75 percent minimum attendance as a criterion for availing fee reimbursement, these orders were not being effectively implemented.

It was unanimously decided to strictly enforce the attendance requirement this time and link it directly to the fee reimbursement eligibility. The Vice-Chancellors expressed the view that this measure would enhance academic discipline among students.

Additionally, it was resolved to revise the total number of credits required for a three-year degree programme. Until now, students were required to complete 150 credits; this will now be reduced to 142 credits.
