Anasuya Bharadwaj: “Keep being jealous” – Actress hits back at trolls and issues strong counter to Sivaji

The ongoing controversy regarding actor Sivaji’s comments on heroines’ dressing has taken a new turn. While Sivaji released an apology video expressing regret for the “unparliamentary” words he used, he also aimed a sharp counter-reponse at actress and anchor Anasuya Bharadwaj. In response, Anasuya has taken to social media with a series of hard-hitting tweets and a video that are currently going viral.

“A Request to Everyone”

Anasuya stated that both men and women are trying to belittle her for standing up for her choices.

  • Targeting Bold Women: She remarked that people with a certain mindset often target active and vocal women out of a fear of losing control or to feed a “weak patriarchal ego.”

  • A Call for Change: She urged everyone to think broadly. “We don’t necessarily have to carry forward the outdated thoughts or habits of previous generations. We can choose change, protect our dignity, and safeguard our freedom,” she tweeted. She emphasized that media should also act with more responsibility.

“Keep Being Jealous”

Addressing the trolls who have been attacking her (some even calling her “aunty” to which she replied, “I’m 40, he’s 54”), Anasuya declared her strength.

  • Standing Tall: She mentioned that she has overcome many obstacles and will continue to speak her mind fearlessly.

  • The Fight for Respect: Her intention, she clarified, is to highlight and fight against the neglect women have faced in society for years.

  • Message to Critics: “No matter what happens, I will stick to what I believe in. Keep being jealous; it only makes us more powerful,” she added defiantly.

The Root of the Conflict

The row began at the Dhandoraa pre-release event where Sivaji made derogatory remarks about actresses’ clothing. While Sivaji clarified in his apology that his intention was only to “protect their dignity” and not to insult them, Anasuya countered by stating, “My body, my choice,” asserting that no one has the right to dictate what a woman should
