The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) is reportedly considering a change of venue for its annual flagship event, Mahanadu, which is celebrated as a “Yellow Festival” by party cadres. While the event was originally scheduled to be held in Srikakulam for three days on May 27, 28, and 29, recent developments suggest it may now be moved to Nellore. Although an official announcement is still awaited, party circles are abuzz with discussions regarding this strategic shift.
The primary reason behind this potential relocation is the upcoming visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Andhra Pradesh in June. The Prime Minister is expected to inaugurate the Bhogapuram International Airport and participate in several other programs across the North Andhra region. TDP leadership reportedly feels that holding Mahanadu in Srikakulam at the same time could lead to logistical challenges and coordination issues between the Prime Minister’s high-profile visit and the party’s massive annual gathering.
In light of these concerns, TDP leadership is currently evaluating suitable locations in Nellore district that can accommodate the large-scale event, including transportation and housing for thousands of attendees. Party Chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu is expected to take a final call on the matter shortly. The potential move has sparked curiosity regarding how party leaders in North Andhra will react, especially since the event was seen as a significant boost for the local cadre in Srikakulam.
