Worms in Maggi? Nestle India Responds to Viral Social Media Allegations

Nestle India has issued a strong response addressing recent viral social media posts alleging the presence of worms in its popular Maggi noodles. The company categorically dismissed the claims, labeling them completely baseless and unfounded. The controversy erupted after a netizen shared a post showing foreign organisms inside a Maggi packet, which quickly gained traction across the country and sparked intense online debates regarding food safety.

As the online dispute intensified, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) took immediate cognizance of the matter and directed Nestle India to submit a detailed explanation. Replying to the apex food regulator, Nestle India clarified in an official regulatory filing to stock exchanges that all its manufacturing facilities adhere to the highest standard quality and safety protocols. The company revealed that the allegations originated from an unverified user account, and despite reaching out to the consumer repeatedly to secure the specific product sample for verification, the individual completely refused to hand it over.

Left without the original sample, Nestle India conducted internal testing of reference samples belonging to the same manufacturing batch to reassure its consumers. To ensure transparency, the company sent these reference samples to a government-certified facility under the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL). The independent lab report cleared the product, finding absolutely no traces of worms or external contaminants, confirming that the batch complies fully with domestic food safety regulations. Nestle India reiterated that consumer health remains its utmost priority and it will continue to uphold rigid safety parameters across its product lines.
