Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development, Dr. Ponguru Narayana, strongly criticized YSRCP leaders, stating it is shameful for them to stage “street plays” and protests when officials issue standard notices for rule violations. He emphasized that the public will not believe these dramas, which are orchestrated solely for political gain. The Minister made these remarks at the Nellore Collectorate during a Grievance Cell meet, while responding to media queries regarding YSRCP’s recent agitations.
Dismissing the political row over municipal notices issued to YSRCP MLC Chandrasekhar Reddy’s college in Nellore, Minister Narayana clarified that he had no prior knowledge of the matter. He revealed that officials had recently issued similar notices to his own Narayana Educational Institutions in Bhimavaram as well, a fact he only learned when his co-brother-in-law, Ganta Srinivasa Rao, called to inform him. He pointed out that if there are any compliance issues or loopholes, institutions must rectify them legally instead of giving them a political color and taking to the streets.
Reflecting on the past, Narayana recalled how the previous YSRCP government deliberately targeted and harassed the Narayana Group of institutions in various ways. He noted that even when the then-YSRCP MLA Sriharsha Reddy directly staged protests at his institutions, they maintained patience and obtained the necessary clearances from officials legally, rather than politicizing the issue. Assuring that the current alliance government will never intentionally trouble businesses or educational institutions out of vendetta, he asserted that the law will simply take its own course whenever a violation occurs.
