Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and YSR Congress Party chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has reacted strongly to the ongoing strike by junior doctors in the state. His comments came after talks between the government and representatives of the junior doctors failed to resolve their concerns, prompting the doctors to continue their protest in various forms.
Jagan questioned the government’s decision to leave doctors who are responsible for saving lives on the streets, alleging that the situation could put the lives of poor patients at risk. He urged the state government to immediately invite representatives of the junior doctors for talks and resolve their legitimate demands.
The former Chief Minister also questioned why the government had failed to respond despite nearly 9,000 junior doctors from 19 government medical colleges continuing their agitation for around two weeks. He further sought an explanation over why the revision of stipends, which was supposed to come into effect from January 1 as per the rules, had allegedly been withheld.
