Is the Youth in Telangana Dead? Kavitha’s Sharp Sarcasm on KCR’s Public Meeting

Political temperatures in Telangana have surged alongside the rising summer heat as Kalvakuntla Kavitha, President of Telangana Jagruthi, launched a scathing attack on the BRS public meeting held in Jagtial. Kavitha ridiculed BRS chief KCR’s comments regarding senior leader Jeevan Reddy, who recently joined the party. She took strong exception to KCR describing the 75-year-old Jeevan Reddy as a “young man” (Nava Yuvakudu), questioning the message this sends to the millions of unemployed youth in the state who are looking for leadership roles.

Kavitha accused KCR of being disconnected from the aspirations of the younger generation, stating that if a 75-year-old is considered the face of the “youthful” future, it implies the actual youth of Telangana are being ignored or considered non-existent. She further criticized KCR for his “arrogant” stance in blaming the public for the BRS’s electoral defeat rather than respecting the people’s mandate. According to her, the BRS has resorted to telling “make-believe stories” while failing to address the genuine hardships of the citizens, including the lack of focus on women’s reservations and security during the recent rally.

In a significant political move, Kavitha announced that she is preparing to provide an alternative voice to both the Congress and BRS. She promised to prioritize activists and the youth in her new political journey, officially declaring that she will launch a new political party on April 25 at Munirabad in Medchal district. She requested GHMC officials not to create hurdles for her party’s publicity material and urged for a democratic space where new political forces can emerge. Additionally, she declared her total support for the ongoing RTC workers’ strike, positioning herself as a champion for workers’ rights.
