Telangana Govt Promotes 6 Senior IPS Officers to DG Rank; VC Sajjanar Among Beneficiaries

The Telangana state government has issued official orders granting promotions to six senior IPS officers. According to the government notification, officials who were previously serving as Additional Directors General (ADGs) have now been elevated to the rank of Director General (DG). This significant administrative reshuffle highlights the government’s recognition of the seniority and services of these top-tier police officials.

The list of promoted officers includes prominent names such as V.C. Sajjanar, Mahesh Bhagwat, Swati Lakra, V.V. Srinivasa Rao, Charu Sinha, and Anil Kumar. Currently, Mahesh Bhagwat serves as the ADG of Law and Order, while Swati Lakra is the DG of the Special Protection Force. V.V. Srinivasa Rao is leading the Police Recruitment Board, Charu Sinha is managing Women’s Safety, CID, and ACB, and Anil Kumar is the ADG of Greyhounds. V.C. Sajjanar is presently serving as the Hyderabad Police Commissioner.

Despite these high-level promotions, the state government has clarified that there will be no immediate change in their current operational roles. All six officers will continue to discharge their duties in their existing positions and departments until further specific orders are issued regarding their transfers or new postings. This move ensures administrative continuity while formally acknowledging the officers’ advancement to the highest rank in the police hierarchy.
