The Election Commission of India (ECI) has officially approved the registration of the new political party founded by Kalvakuntla Kavitha. While Kavitha originally proposed the name Telangana Rashtra Sena, the ECI approved the name Telangana Rakshana Sena instead. Despite this change to the full title, the party’s abbreviated name remains TRS.
The ECI issued official orders recognizing the party and delivered the letter of approval to Kavitha’s residence in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad. Kavitha had previously announced her departure from the BRS and grandly unveiled the party name at a meeting in Medchal on April 25. Political analysts suggest that Kavitha securing the “TRS” acronym may present a new challenge for the BRS party.
Following the formal recognition, Kavitha has moved forward with expanding the party’s reach. Recently, approximately 50 young people from various political backgrounds in the Nizamabad district joined the newly formed TRS. The joining ceremony took place under the leadership of the party’s Nizamabad District President, Edurugatla Sampath Goud.
