Shreyas Iyer to Front Formula 1-Sanctioned Sim Racing Initiative in India

Indian cricketer Shreyas Iyer has been appointed as the official brand ambassador for the F1 Sim Racing India Open 2026. The initiative, led by Mumbai Falcons Racing Limited, is an official Formula 1-sanctioned competition designed to establish a national platform for emerging esports racing talent in India. Iyer was selected for his sporting excellence and his strong connection with the younger demographic, which the program aims to engage.

The championship will utilize the F1 25 game, the official title of the FIA Formula 1 World Championship, to provide an authentic racing experience on real-world circuits. Shreyas Iyer expressed his pride in joining the initiative, noting that it provides a structured pathway for young Indians that he would have valued during his own youth. Mumbai Falcons Managing Director Ameet Gadhoke emphasized that the project is intended to bridge structural gaps in the Indian sporting ecosystem and unlock untapped potential within the country.

Registrations for the competition began on April 30 via the MFRL app. The tournament structure includes online qualifiers and city-based simulator rounds, eventually leading to a national final. This final event is scheduled to take place in Mumbai in November 2026.
