Undavalli Arun Kumar’s Analysis: Pawan Kalyan is a CM-Level Leader

Former MP Undavalli Arun Kumar recently shared his perspectives on Andhra Pradesh Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan, describing him as a leader capable of holding the Chief Minister’s office. In a recent interview, Undavalli expressed a positive outlook toward Pawan Kalyan but offered a nuanced critique of his ideological shifts and political alliances. He noted that while he has only met the JSP chief once to discuss bifurcation issues—a topic Pawan showed little interest in at the time—he continues to follow his political trajectory closely.

Political Necessity Over Ideology

Undavalli analyzed Pawan Kalyan’s alliance with the BJP as a strategic move rather than an ideological alignment. Reminding the audience of Pawan’s past inclinations toward Naxalite and Communist ideologies—and his 2019 alliance with the Left parties—Undavalli suggested that joining the NDA was a “political necessity.” He attributed this shift to the perceived humiliations Pawan faced during the previous YSRCP government. According to Undavalli, Pawan’s primary objective was to unseat Jagan Mohan Reddy, which prompted his immediate support for Chandrababu Naidu following the latter’s arrest.

Communism vs. Sanatana Dharma

Addressing Pawan Kalyan’s recent vocal support for Sanatana Dharma, Undavalli expressed skepticism about a deep-seated ideological change. He remarked that Pawan is well-read in Communist literature and that those principles likely remain his core influence. “I don’t think Sanatana Dharma has fully ‘entered’ his system; he knows Communism better,” Undavalli stated, adding that he intends to question Pawan about this specific shift if they meet again. He praised Pawan’s ability to speak firmly on any subject, regardless of the platform.

Commentary on the Current Administration

While acknowledging Pawan Kalyan’s crucial role in the current coalition government, Undavalli also touched upon broader administrative issues. He cautioned Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu regarding his rhetoric concerning the Tirumala Laddu controversy, specifically the use of sensitive terms like “beef.” Undavalli suggested that such language sends the wrong signals to the public and maintained that legal processes should handle such investigations quietly. He concluded by reiterating that Pawan remains a pivotal figure in the state’s political future.
