Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha and senior Congress leader, Rahul Gandhi, has launched a scathing attack on the BJP-led government following the cancellation of the NEET-UG 2026 exam due to a paper leak. Expressing his outrage on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), he stated that the “corrupt system” has shattered the dreams and hard work of nearly 22 lakh students across the nation.
The Human Cost of Systemic Failure
Rahul Gandhi highlighted the immense personal and financial sacrifices made by families to support their children’s medical aspirations. He pointed out that many parents had taken out loans or sold their gold to afford the education and exam preparations. He lamented that after countless sleepless nights of study, students were rewarded only with a paper leak and a cancelled exam, forcing them back into a state of mental stress and financial instability.
A “Crime” Against the Youth
Terming the incident as more than just an administrative failure, Gandhi described it as a “crime against the future of the youth.” He criticized the “paper mafia” for repeatedly escaping punishment while innocent students suffer the consequences. He further took a jab at the Prime Minister’s “Amrit Kaal” slogan, stating that for the youth of the country, this period has turned “poisonous” due to systemic corruption and government negligence.
