Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday officially concluded his visit to Slovakia, describing the trip as both “historic and fruitful.” He expressed strong confidence that the outcomes of this visit will significantly deepen and strengthen the bilateral relationship between India and Slovakia. Highlighting the mutual warmth and respect between the two nations, Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico personally came to bid a formal farewell to PM Modi. Taking to the social media platform ‘X’, PM Modi expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the government and people of Slovakia for their exceptional hospitality, noting that building stronger trade ties will bring immense opportunities to the youth and future generations of both nations.
The strategic agreements were officially formalized following a high-level delegate-meeting between PM Modi and Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico in Bratislava, which was capped off with a comprehensive joint statement. A major highlight of the discussions was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on migration and mobility, aimed at streamlining safe, orderly, and legal movement for workers alongside improving data-sharing between regulatory bodies. Furthermore, both leaders agreed to enhance the scope of the India-Slovakia Joint Economic Committee (JEC) to effectively identify and promote high-potential sectors for financial cooperation.
According to the joint statement, both India and Slovakia have firmly committed to accelerating trade and investment relations across core sectors, including the automotive industry, electronics, and advanced manufacturing. By systematically combining Slovakia’s established industrial ecosystem with India’s massive economic scale, innovation capabilities, and technological strengths, both sides have agreed to explore new avenues to significantly upscale mutual investments. Following the conclusion of this successful bilateral visit, Prime Minister Modi has officially departed for France to participate in the prestigious G7 Summit.
