Senior Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader and former minister T. Harish Rao launched a scathing attack on the ruling Congress government in Telangana. Speaking as the chief guest at a high-level BRS party meeting held in Alganoor, Karimnagar district, the opposition leader made sensational allegations regarding large-scale corruption. He claimed that massive irregularities and bribery have taken over the tendering processes within the state’s residential (Gurukul) educational institutions.
Detailing the figures to the media, Harish Rao alleged a massive ₹2,000 crore scam in the procurement tenders meant for Gurukul school students. He specified that tenders worth ₹1,200 crore were called for student uniforms and ties, while another ₹800 crore was allocated for essential commodities and food supply, such as eggs, lentils, and chicken. Taking a swipe at the administration, he mocked that current Congress ministers are completely oblivious to the tenders being cleared within their own respective departments, suggesting that the entire operation is being run covertly behind the scenes.
Turning his focus to agricultural issues, Harish Rao strongly criticized the government for failing to procure paddy from farmers in a timely manner. Directing a sharp, straight question at Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, he stated, “CM Revanth, you completely lack the basic acumen to systematically procure paddy from our farmers, but you want to stop BRS from thriving?” He advised the Chief Minister to shift his focus toward resolving urgent public and agrarian crises rather than constantly trying to create political hurdles for the BRS party.
