In recognition of his exceptional contributions to the field of medicine, particularly in diabetes management and narrowing healthcare inequalities, he has been conferred with the prestigious ‘Officer of the Order of the British Empire’ (OBE) award. His name was officially announced as part of the King’s Birthday Honours list for 2026.

Professor Wasim Hanif was born and raised in Hyderabad, where he completed his schooling at St. George’s Grammar School and subsequently earned his medical degree from Gandhi Medical College under Osmania University.
