Hyderabad Heavy Rain Alert: Cyberabad Police Issue Critical Traffic Advisory

In light of the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) warning of heavy rain across Telangana, the Cyberabad Police have issued a critical advisory to prevent severe gridlocks and logging in the city. IT firms, corporate offices, and educational institutions within the Cyberabad jurisdiction—including major hubs like Hitech City, Madhapur, Gachibowli, and the Financial District—have been requested to log off and dismiss employees and students early. The police recommended staggered exits starting as early as 3:30 PM on Monday to ensure a smooth flow of traffic before evening downpours trigger flash logging.

According to the IMD’s forecast, Telangana is expected to experience widespread thunderstorms, lightning, and moderate to heavy rainfall until June 27. Hyderabad, in particular, is on high alert for intense spells accompanied by gusty winds until June 24, prompting weather officials to issue a yellow alert for several districts. Although the capital city did not register torrential downpours on Monday afternoon, the state administration and meteorologists expect the rain intensity to spike significantly over the coming hours.

The proactive advisory stems from past experiences where sudden cloudbursts left thousands of commuters stranded on waterlogged roads for hours during peak evening rush periods. By distributing the logging-off times across different sectors, cyber traffic officials aim to avoid a massive bottleneck on the arterial roads leading to residential sectors. Residents are strictly advised to avoid non-essential travel, monitor real-time traffic updates, and maintain extreme caution near open drains or heavily flooded underpasses over the next few days.
