Police investigating the incident involving a student who fell from a hostel building at the Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge and Technologies (RGUKT)-Basar have concluded that it was an accidental fall and not a suicide attempt. The first-year Pre-University Course (PUC) student from Sangareddy district sustained head injuries after falling from the hostel building on June 17.
The incident had initially sparked speculation among some students that it was a suicide attempt. However, police said their investigation found that the student accidentally slipped from the hostel building, ruling out any deliberate act. She is currently receiving medical treatment for her injuries.
Meanwhile, parents have expressed concern over the recurring student deaths at RGUKT-Basar in recent years. University officials said they have strengthened counselling services by setting up dedicated support centres and appointing doctors, mentors, and caretakers to help students cope with mental stress, psychological issues, and other personal challenges
