England captain Nat Sciver-Brunt says her team has moved on from the disappointment of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup final and is fully focused on the historic one-off Test against India at Lord’s, beginning on Friday. The match will be the first-ever women’s Test played at the iconic venue, with more than 30,000 tickets sold, setting a new UK attendance record for a women’s red-ball game.
Sciver-Brunt said the change in format has given the squad a fresh start, with new faces bringing renewed energy to the team. She acknowledged that India would present a tough challenge, praising the visitors’ experienced batting line-up and their ability to value their wickets. The England skipper stressed that patience, resilience, and determination would be essential over the four-day contest.
The Lord’s Test will also mark the international farewell of veteran opener Tammy Beaumont after a distinguished 17-year career. Sciver-Brunt paid tribute to her teammate, describing her as one of England’s greatest batters and praising her determination, consistency, and contribution to the team’s success. She said the squad hopes to give Beaumont a memorable send-off with a strong performance against India.
