Kudankulam Nuclear Plant Blueprints Reportedly Leaked on Dark Web, Probe Underway

Blueprints related to India’s largest nuclear power plant at Kudankulam in Tamil Nadu have reportedly surfaced on the dark web. According to a Reuters report, the ransomware group World Leaks uploaded files allegedly containing blueprints of certain sections of the nuclear facility along with supplier information. The hackers claimed the data originated from Anil Ambani’s Reliance Group.

Reuters reported that Reliance Group, one of the contractors associated with the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant, informed the government that some of its data hosted on servers operated by third-party Indian data center provider Yotta had been partially compromised. However, the company has not disclosed the exact nature of the leaked information.

According to the report, around 858,000 Reliance files were published by the hacking group, with nearly 19,000 identified as highly sensitive. Reuters stated that the leaked documents do not include blueprints of the nuclear reactor’s core systems, but reportedly contain designs related to the ventilation and cooling systems used in Units 3 and 4 of the plant. Authorities have reportedly launched an investigation into the alleged data leak.
