A grand spiritual celebration marked a new chapter in Andhra Pradesh’s capital region as ISKCON organized its first-ever Jagannath Rath Yatra in Amaravati’s Venkatapalem. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu inaugurated the procession, while a large number of devotees gathered to witness the event. A visual presentation of Amaravati’s master plan was also showcased during the yatra, highlighting the vision of developing the capital into a world-class city.
Following the traditions of the Jagannath Temple in Puri, Chandrababu Naidu performed the ceremonial sweeping of the road with a golden broom before the chariot procession began. He then joined devotees in pulling the chariot carrying the idols of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra, and Subhadra. Union Minister Pemmasani Chandrasekhar and State Minister P. Narayana were among the dignitaries who participated in the religious event.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said spirituality is an effective way to deal with the growing stress and family-related challenges in the modern social media era. He emphasized the importance of preserving cultural values and strengthening social bonds, announcing that the state government plans to build 5,000 new temples across Andhra Pradesh. He also invited ISKCON representatives to actively participate in this initiative.
