The Indian Railways has come under criticism once again after a video of a birthday celebration inside a train surfaced on social media. This comes shortly after photos of a “honeymoon” arrangement inside a train went viral and attracted public attention. The latest incident reportedly took place inside a coach of the New Delhi-Bhopal Shatabdi Express while the train was passing through Jhansi.
The 44-second viral video shows ticket-checking staff from Jhansi celebrating the birthday of a fellow employee while wearing their official duty uniforms. The employees can be seen cutting a cake and putting garlands around the birthday person. The incident is believed to have taken place three or four days ago. The video has sparked criticism over employees conducting such celebrations while on duty aboard a passenger train.
Jhansi Division PRO Manoj Kumar confirmed that the railway authorities had taken note of the video. He said an investigation has been initiated into the incident, and appropriate action will be taken based on the findings of the inquiry. The incident has once again raised questions about maintaining professional conduct and discipline while railway staff are performing their duties.
