Trump’s Secret Flight: Security Concerns Trigger Switch to Older Air Force One

A highly secretive security operation reportedly took place when U.S. President Donald Trump left Turkey following the NATO summit in Ankara in July. Reports suggest the decision was made after U.S. officials received credible information about a potential threat to Trump from Iranian individuals or affiliated forces. As a result, additional precautions were reportedly taken during his departure from Turkey.

Trump had traveled to Ankara for the NATO summit aboard a Boeing 747-8 newly provided by Qatar, which is being prepared for future use as the president’s official aircraft. However, for the return journey from Turkey, security officials reportedly decided that Trump should travel on the older Air Force One instead of the newer aircraft. The change was reportedly made purely for security reasons.

At the time, Trump himself referred humorously to using the older aircraft, describing it as being “for old memories.” The reported security measures highlight the extensive precautions taken to protect the U.S. president during international travel, particularly when intelligence indicates a potential threat.
