Junior doctors in Andhra Pradesh have sounded the strike alarm, demanding an increase in their stipends and the resolution of long-pending issues. The Andhra Pradesh Junior Doctors Association (APJUDA) has asked the government to announce a decision on the stipend hike by August 15. The doctors have decided to wear black badges and continue attending duties until August 15, warning that the protest will intensify from August 17 if their demands are not addressed.
As part of the protest, junior doctors have announced a boycott of emergency services from 9 AM to 4 PM. APJUDA urged the government to address the legitimate and long-pending demands of resident doctors, with the stipend hike being a key issue. The association also said that DRP and peripheral postings would be suspended during the strike period.
APJUDA said it hopes the government will respond positively and resolve the issues within the deadline. The association stated that steps would be taken to minimize disruption to regular healthcare services and that priority would be given to emergency medical care to avoid inconvenience to patients. However, the planned emergency-service boycott between 9 AM and 4 PM is expected to put additional pressure on hospitals if the government fails to respond to their demands.
