Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said the reputation of the state police should resonate across the country. From the state Secretariat, the Chief Minister held a video conference with DGP-level officials as well as Range IGs, DIGs, DSPs and Station House Officers (SHOs) across the state. During the meeting, he urged the police department to work towards achieving national recognition for its professionalism and performance.
Chandrababu stressed the need to increase the integration of technology into crime investigation and highlighted the importance of the “golden hour” in preventing and controlling crime. He said this was the first time a meeting had been conducted involving police officials ranging from the DGP to SHOs. He added that the government was working to address shortcomings in maintaining law and order, noting that a peaceful environment is essential both for public confidence and for attracting investments to the state.
The Chief Minister described the police department as a source of pride for the state government and called on personnel to earn the trust of the public. He advocated the implementation of an “invisible police, visible policing” approach. He noted that cognizable crimes had declined by around 14% over the past two years, while also pointing out that the nature of crime is changing with time. Digital crimes and “digital arrests” are emerging as new challenges, he said, urging the police to adopt advanced technology and strengthen their capabilities accordingly.
