With the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections scheduled for next year, the political atmosphere in the state is heating up. As part of precautionary security measures ahead of the polls, the state government has taken a significant step by providing bulletproof jackets to 52 senior political leaders.
The beneficiaries reportedly include Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati, along with several other prominent leaders. According to official sources, each bulletproof jacket provided to the leaders is estimated to cost around ₹10 lakh.
The jackets were distributed in two phases, with eight leaders receiving them in the first phase and another 44 in the second phase. The move comes amid heightened security concerns ahead of the elections and is aimed at strengthening protection for prominent political figures during the upcoming electoral period.
