Sitting for Long Hours? It Could Affect Your Tailbone Too

Sitting for several hours every day has become a routine part of modern life. Spending most of the day in front of a computer can leave you with a stiff lower back, neck pain and a feeling of heaviness in your legs. For many people, these are the first health problems associated with prolonged sitting.

However, sitting for long periods can also affect another part of the body — the tailbone, or coccyx. Remaining in the same position for hours, especially on hard chairs, can put continuous pressure on the tailbone area. This may lead to pain, discomfort or a burning sensation around the tailbone, particularly while sitting.

If your work requires you to sit for long hours, try to take regular breaks to stand and walk, change your sitting position and use a chair that provides proper support. If tailbone pain occurs frequently or persists for a long time, it is advisable to consult a healthcare professional.
