Heavy rain caused widespread disruption in Vijayawada after torrential showers lashed the city from around 5 a.m. to 8 a.m. Roads and low-lying areas were inundated within hours, leaving motorists and residents struggling as rainwater accumulated across several parts of the city.
Traffic movement was severely affected in multiple areas. Near the bus stand bridge, water levels rose significantly on the roads, with an RTC bus getting trapped and partially submerged, highlighting the intensity of the rainfall. Passengers were left frightened amid the situation.
The rain also affected the Indrakeeladri hill, home to the famous Kanaka Durga Temple. Water accumulated on the Durga Temple Ghat Road, while concerns over possible landslides prompted authorities to immediately close the ghat road as a precautionary safety measure.
