A profound tragedy unfolded in Aravakotturu village, located in the Sri Kalahasti mandal of Tirupati district, when a fun outing turned into a fatal accident. On Friday morning, April 17, 2026, two individuals—a young boy and a man who heroically tried to save him—drowned in an agricultural well. The victims have been identified as Trishul, a 12-year-old schoolboy, and Tarun Reddy, a 25-year-old youth.
The incident began when Trishul, a 5th-grade student with a keen interest in learning to swim, went to the local farm well with his friends. Despite not knowing how to swim, the young boy jumped into the water out of curiosity and excitement. He quickly found himself in distress and began screaming for help as he started to sink into the deep water.
Hearing the desperate cries, Tarun Reddy, who was in the vicinity, immediately rushed to the well and dove in to rescue the boy. Unfortunately, the water was significantly deeper than expected, and both were unable to fight the current or stay afloat. Both Trishul and Tarun Reddy drowned before they could be reached. Local police have since arrived at the scene, registered a case, and are currently conducting a thorough investigation into the accident.
